Greece has Dared to Fail by Pullarao Pentapati

Pullarao Pentapati – Greece is perhaps the oldest and greatest civilization of man. The Chinese and Indian civilizations and some South American civilizations have also been very old. But Greece has been a continuous trend-setter of humanity. Greece is part of the 19 European nations union. They have a common visa and a common currency. It is no longer a Greek crisis since the deadline has past. Along with Portugal, France and Italy, Greece forms part of the Mediterranean nations. They have no oil or major minerals and now all suffer from economic problems. These countries are unable to avoid a large State benefits programs and a big state-employment sector and pension and socials services. These 4 nations are now undergoing serious recession and there is no visible light at the end of the tunnel.

Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Indian Ocean countries

It is welcome that the Indian Prime Minister is visiting countries in the Indian Ocean who are extremely close, both geographically and ethnically to India. Aside from centuries-old relationships with such countries in the Indian Ocean, a significant number of Indians went over there and settled there. There is a huge Indian Diaspora in these countries. Such a population composition makes for both good and sometimes tricky relations.

Nitesh Kumar Trapped in His Own Drama

While India is fixated on   Kejriwal, there is a much more serious political drama going on in Bihar. While BJP lost Delhi, Bihar will have new political equations favorable to   BJP.  The was the  Bihar fight erupted between  Ex- Chief Minister   Nitesh  Kumar and  present Chief Minister  Jitan Ram Manjhi  has become a  comedy and  Nitesh Kumar looks like the comedian  . Delhi is a small state with 7 MPs and Bihar has 40 MPs.  What happens in Bihar is closely watched by Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bengal, Odisha and Chhattisgarh.  Nitesh Kumar is facing a very embarrassing situation as one of his followers has rebelled. “A man in my position cannot afford to look ridiculous “said a famous Hollywood film producer in the greatest film “The Godfather. Nitesh Kumar looks ridiculous now. In May, 2014, after   Nitesh Kumar’s party lost the Parliament elections, he resigned from post of Chief Minister, saying   he was morally responsible. The country applauded him for his principled stance. Instead of appointing a senior and powerful minister as Chief Minister, Nitesh Kumar appointed a docile Dalit leader Jitan Ram Manjhi as Chief Minister.

BJP Made Too Many Mistakes in Delhi Elections

Strangely, it does not matter who rules the capital of USA, England, Russia or France. Can anyone remember the name of the Mayor of Bombay?  Though Delhi is smaller than most cities, the election in Delhi has become extremely important for politicians. The media gives more importance to Delhi than all the states combined.

The Congress controlled Delhi for 15 years.  In 2013,    AAP of Kejriwal defeated the Congress decisively and took away all its vote banks.  In 2013, BJP won 31 MLAs out of 70.   Kejriwal ( AAP) won 28 and  Congress  got  only  8 MLAs, with the  15 years  Chief Minister  Sheila  Dikshit   losing  her own seat. Congress   has not recovered from this shock.

Telangana can be very successful

Greater Hyderabad is the largest concentration of Telugus in the world. For Telugus to be a successful ethnic and language group in the world, Hyderabad and Telengana must be economically successfully.  Since the division of the State into two, people would have realized that the promises made to the two States in Parliament and outside are not honored at all and no one really cares.  We are on our own.  One cannot predict political success. But one can definitely plan an economic success story. Actually it is very simple. If Telengana is to be successful, all it has to do is to ensure that things go on as usual. There will be automatic economic growth and prosperity.

Modi And BJP Are Failing in Parliament

The end of the year should have been triumphant  for Narendra Modi . Government was running well and   electoral victories in  Haryana, Maharashtra, Jharkhand  and  Kashmir  were  stunning.  But the Winter session in Parliament was not successful . The BJP has a  majority in  Lok Sabha . But in  Rajya Sabha,    BJP has no majority. In such  situations,  if  Government wants  a  Law  passed, it can  have a Joint session of both  Houses and get  Bills passed. However this is an extreme remedy and rarely done.  The BJP government wanted to pass many laws in Rajya sabha   to help the economy. The Opposition sensed this urgent need of the Government and started raising  difficulties, using  any pretext.

Prime Minister Modi and His Foreign Visits

Narendra Modi’s rivals have started attacking him for undertaking frequent foreign travel. Incidentally, Rajiv Gandhi was also criticized for his foreign travels. But Rajiv Gandhi achieved more by his foreign visits than he did in India. The Prime Minister is not a Chief Minister or a Zilla Parishad chairman. The main job of the Central government is safety, security and economic stability. These can be assured only through great diplomacy. Charles Talleyrand the French diplomat did more for France than Napoleon. Machiavelli did more for Italy than its Dukes.

Obama New Immigration Policy Helps Indians

The engine of growth for the Indian economy has been the lakhs of Indians

“ techies” and millions of Indian workers in the Gulf and Middle East . It is their hard earned foreign exchange that keeps the Indian economy going.
